Frequently Asked Questions...

Guitar dealers, what would be a good one to have for a small guitar store?

We have recently opened a small guitar store in south lyon, MI and we already have an amp and pick dealer but we need to get a guitar and possibly a band instrument dealer, we are looking into it but does anyone have an idea for one that will deal with a small store space with guitars ranging $100-1500?

Answer:

Kenny; you are doing this backwards......
getting "suppliers" will be easy.

write a biz plan, asap

do both primary and secondary market research ASAP too.
when you do the primary part, you will talk to LIKELY clients before you open up
and ASK them what they want in a store like yours ---and what they want you to
offer THAT YOUR COMPETITION DOES NOT.

Otherwise, why should they come to you???

[i had a music store in N. California that was a client of mine and in 15 min I learned
what he wanted most; he rented out his instruments and 75% were not coming back
and he did not have in his contract, that he could charge his client's credit cards
for "withheld" instruments. I suggested he hire a physical collector who would go get them.
In 2 weeks, he had back all his non paid for rental equipment!!!
