Glasgow Green, Glasgow - 8th July 2006
Gig Review - Shirl Gibson, St.Helens, Merseyside.
Loretta, Phil and I travelled on the overnight coach from Manchester. They went through to Glasgow, and I got off at Hamilton as I was staying with Sandra (aka FunFoxyLady). After grabbing a few hours sleep, and a lovely breakfast, it was time for Sandra and myself to meet up with Angie (aka Footballers Wife) and Moira and head off to Glasgow Green. We met up with Loretta and Phil, and our bud Will (a poet and I know it)
We arrived at the stage in the music zone as 'Elvis' was finishing his last couple of numbers. The DJ's from Clyde were doing their stuff, and as part of the links had various mini competitions. They asked a few questions to the folk who were starting to gather, and it was a case of answer correctly and you are on stage....needless to say Loretta and I duly obliged, and we were there with a bunch of youngsters looking out to the posse below...some with cameras out (Cheers Will and Phil). Next thing, there are a couple of familiar faces hugging the troupe we have left behind...Mick and Derek !! If that's not enough, they are now all watching us, grinning from ear to ear, and it's not just Will and Phil with the cameras, as we spot Mick with the digicam too...Well, I guess if we have got photo's of them onstage, it's time for them to get photo's of us.
All we had to do was to act as we were in the final of the WC, and we had to take a shot at goal ( the goalie being the link man) and then do our best goal scoring celebrations...kiddie number one does the business, and proceeds to put shirt over head....don't worry folks, I did tell Loretta that we had to hold back on that one !! a few others had a go, and I watching in horror as all our ideas seem to be used.....milking crowd, rocking baby etc. The gymnastic ones were doing cartwheels, which we weren't going to attempt, lol, so by the time it's our turn it's a case of hipswaying (in Loretta's case) and tattoo showing (don't worry, it wasn't a real one) and crest kissing in mine ! Thankfully this time Mick and Derek had gone for a wander.
Time soon arrived for us to take our leave from the stage. FOURGOODMEN were on a tad later than planned but well worth waiting for.

There was an extra piper accompanying Carrie and the double pipes at the intro, during 'In A Big Country' and in the traditional medley worked really well. These were the highlights for me, along with Belfast Child, and it was great to hear 'Falling' live, and to hear the positive reaction from those who had come to see them.
After the band had finished and we had our usual post-gig chats with various members, we got off to the city as we celebrated Sandra's birthday. We said goodbye to Will, and the rest of us made our way to the Crystal Palace before hitting the Reflex bar for the night.
