Baseball holds some of the true athlete gods; names like Joseph Paul DiMaggio, Ty Cobb and of course Babe Ruth; to name only the tip of the iceberg. Baseball is a high intensity sport; the best players have to be fleet of foot, strong of arm, and have a sharp eye. However, with so many baseball players on a pedestal, there is a lot of room for falling. Baseball is also ripe for sports bloopers; after all, when you have a small ball flying at you at fifty, seventy or even a hundred miles per hour, there is always the danger of something painful, damaging and outright humiliating happening. Baseball bloopers happen at the spur of the moment... You have to be watching or you'll miss it.

The Baseball Doesn’t Go Where It Should
Scary things happen when a baseball goes awry. Sliding into base is one of the best ways to get there; it throws the baseman off balance, puts dirt in his eye and makes it far more likely that you’ll make it. but, when you have someone jumping at you, then sliding and something goes wrong…. Well, injuries and humor abound. Sliding accidents occur when someone slides into the legs of a baseman (thus tripping him up) and worse; there are a few cases of a slider going right into the stomach or crotch of a baseman! Painful? Yes, but also wonderfully funny for the spectators.
Baseball Batting Bloopers
Many of the most famous bloopers involving the baseball bat have become enshrined as strategies. Such bloopers include popping the ball so that it jump skips out of a catcher’s mitt (you hit the ball badly enough that it’s almost impossible to catch-but it’s also almost impossible to do on purpose) or banjo-hitting the ball (slapping it instead of hitting it full on). These are bloopers; they are next to impossible to do on purpose, but no baseball player will ever admit it to your face! The Japanese teams are especially notorious for banjo hitting and the sad thing is, it works really well!
Unfortunately, bloopers are not things that are planned; by their very definition, they are accidents. This means that you have to have some measure of luck in order to catch a blooper in action.
